Saturday

Rushed in, rushed out and crowded seating, food was very average and not much flavour. I'm not hard to please and don't often complain, but was not enjoyable! Final straw was being overcharged on the bill! Not recommnended.

Went here for my daughters 6th birthday. Main problem was how utterly unwelcome we were made to feel, waiters were very sullen to the point of being unapproachable. Food took ages to arrive, was unremarkable and tasteless when it did. Had to ask twice for drinks. They obviously couldnt wait to get us out (even though it was a Tuesday night and very quiet) as my sons dessert plate was whisked from under his nose while he was still chewing! We did not leave a tip and will not be returning. Ruined my daughters birthday night, have no idea why this place is so popular.

Bah Humbug!

Went with friend who was recovering from illness - was positively my worst ever dining experience. We were met with a grunt, by the worst waiter I have ever encountered (even though we had booked a table) and made to feel very unwelcome- there were several tables for 2 free - we waited to be shown to table but eventually we had to ask another waiter if we could sit down -(would have left if it hadn't been for friend who had been so looking forward to the outing). Had to wait over an hour for food - we were not warned about this and no apology was given for the wait. Wouldn't have minded if the food was worth it. When it arrived it looked horrible- and had less taste than the white of a boiled egg. Supposedly Cordon Bleu - came swimming in 'GRAVY!' and looked like a mish mash of any old scraps found lying around in kitchen. I left most of it and when I was asked if everything was alright I answered 'not really' and said that I had not enjoyed it one bit. Again no apology or demonstration of customer care (incidently had tried to change order half an hour before food arrived but request was refused - waiter would not even go to find out if it would be possible.) No reduction made on the bill - and a word of warning - prices for drinks is scandalous e.g. £1.50 for VERY SMALL bottle of tonic water. RESTAURANT??? - I repeat BAH HUMBUG!!!!

Good Friday

I had the worst meal almost in my life at Sambuca 2 last friday. I had the fish platter and it was dry and tasteless. I believe the fish had been cooked earlier and heated up. My wife had red snapper and it was so over cooked it could hardly be eaten. The place should be closed down until they get a chef who can cook fish as it should be cooked.

After reading some of the comments about this place i felt that i had to leave one of my own.
I go to Sambucas 2 at least once a week and it never fails to be perfect.
Yes the waiting staff can get a little harrised, with the amount of people through the doors they would be hard pushed not to !
The food is ALWAYS fantastic and VERY good value for money, where else can you get a 3 course meal and bottle of wine and still get change out of ?20 !
All in all you get much more than you pay for and we will go back again and again .

Anniversary Meal

We went to Sambuca 2 for my parents anniversary and to be honest, after reading some of these reviews, I wasn't looking forward to the meal.

I had nothing to worry about - the food and atmosphere were both excellent.

There were 11 of our family dining and the main meals ordered were a mix of pizza, pasta and sunday dinners. We had a range of starters from pizza bread, potato skins to soup and desserts of cheese cake, choc cake, icecream and coffee. All the courses we ordered were of excellent quality, delicious, well cooked and the empty plates all round proved this.

I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for extremly cheap family eating. Our family will definately be back - hopefully very soon.

Sambuca 2

I was very disappointed with Sambuca2. The very cheap prices certainly reflected the quality of the restaurant. Pasta Dishes were around ?3 which seem like unbelievably fantastic value for money, but even the cheap prices would not make me go back. We are sure that the house wine was watered down, having absolutely no taste or smell at all. We spent the whole evening deciding whether it was just cheap wine or had been topped up. I wasn't given the choice of ordering a nicer wine as the waiter rushed off before we could say anything and returned with an already opened bottle of wine, which made us even more suspicious about it being watered down.
The food made up for the wine slightly - the ariabata pasta that my boyfriend had was very cheap and edible, although nothing special and the chicken cacciatore sauce that I had was lovely but unfortunately the chicken was very overcooked and dry. The potato skins we had to start were quite burnt but came with a tasty garlic dip and another dip that was un-identifiable (not so tasty it may have been marie-rose sauce but I am only guessing because of the colour, it had no taste).
I don't understand how a restaurant can expect people to return when the quality is bad. I would prefer to pay more money and eat food that is so delicious I want to return again and again.

I went to this restaurant and found the food of good quality and reasonably priced, although I didn't like the house red. The staff seemed really friendly and I thought we had found a little gem. Unfortunatley I was seated next to the door and overheard the head waiter talking to potential customers. He was downright rude and obnoxious if they hadn't booked or if they had arrived early. This might be down to stress , but if you can't cope in such as small restaurant then maybe he shouldn't be out front.

Sambuca2 - Thursday

I am a regular customer and can honestly say that the staff are the friendliest most accommdating people I have ever met. They are always very helpful and polite. The food is fantastic and I have never heard anyone yet apart from Rachel say anything bad. Book early to avoid disappointment as is always full, due to excellent service and quality food at excellent prices. Like to say thanks to Andy and Kosher and rest of staff for fantastic service with friendly atomosphere.
